Privacy Policy
Smaller PDF · Last updated 14 August 2026
Smaller collects nothing about you. Not your name, not your email, not how you use the app, not the files you open. That is the entire policy. The rest of this page is the specifics, because a claim this broad is worth spelling out.
There are no servers
Smaller makes no network requests. There is no backend, no API, and no account system, so there is nowhere for your information to go. The app contains no networking code at all.
There are no accounts
You do not sign up and you do not sign in. Smaller never asks for your email address or any other detail about you.
There is no analytics
No analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifier, no tracking of any kind. Smaller also has no third-party SDKs — it is built entirely on Apple's own frameworks, with zero outside dependencies.
Your PDFs stay on your device
Every PDF you open is read, compressed, and written on your iPhone or iPad. Nothing is uploaded. No copy is sent anywhere, at any point, for any reason. The compression happens in the app itself, which is why it works with Airplane Mode on.
The only thing stored is a count
Smaller keeps one number: how many of your ten free compressions you have used. It lives in the app's own storage on your device and is mirrored in the iOS Keychain, so that reinstalling the app does not hand out a fresh ten. It is never transmitted, and it says nothing about which files you compressed.
Purchases go through Apple
Smaller Pro is sold with Apple's StoreKit. Apple takes the payment and tells the app one thing: whether the purchase exists. We never see your card details, your Apple Account, or your name. Apple's handling of that transaction is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
Where your compressed files go
Finished files are saved to Files → On My iPhone → Smaller. They stay there until you delete them. They are inside the app's own storage, so no other app can read them unless you share the file yourself.
Apple verifies this
The app ships a privacy manifest — PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy —
declaring no data collection and no tracking. Apple checks that manifest
against the app when it is submitted, so this is not only our word for it.
Children
Smaller collects no data from anyone, which includes children. There is nothing about the app that treats a child's use differently, because there is nothing to treat differently.
If this ever changes
If a future version of Smaller ever collects anything, this page will say so plainly and the change will be described in the App Store release notes before you update. We would rather tell you than bury it here.
